We had long dreamed of traveling in Europe, but the true trigger for our first trip was the wedding of our Canadian neighbors, Sonia and Jonas. They traveled all the way from Canada to get married in Lagos, Portugal. It was impressive how many fellow Canadians made the journey to celebrate with them—it speaks volumes about how wonderful they are as a couple. We feel lucky that they moved into our neighborhood and invited us to be part of their special day.
Portugal in March is in full bloom, yet pleasantly mild. The wedding venue was Lagos Zoo, which made the experience even more unique. Interestingly, many of the animals were not kept in cages but roamed freely within areas surrounded by water. They clearly thrived in this safe and thoughtfully designed habitat.

Unfortunately, we took almost no photos. I was too busy enjoying the wedding—dancing, eating, and talking. Once we receive some photos from Sonia and Jonas, I will update this post.
