2026 – Europe – Week 3 – Beaches of Portugal

Whenever I mentioned we were travelling to Portugal everybody would talk about marvelous Portuguese beaches. On our 4th day in Portugal we were ready to see them. Especially that the previous evening we met Sonia and Jonas and their family, at a Pescador restaurant Lagos and we were treated to some delicious seafood. Seafood and beaches go well together.

This area of Portugal is very special. It was from Sagres that the Prince Henry the Navigator (1394-1460) supported voyages down the west cost of Africa and helped to transform Portugal into a leading maritime power of the 15th century.

At Sagres we learn a bit of local history
Look at the landscape and try to imagine the realities of 1400s
This was a cool place, a magnified acoustic of a sea tunnel
At the parking lot we meet Mateusz from Poland. He travels in Europe and has his YouTube channel about European cities! Pretty cool!
And here is me and Mateusz Zmyślony in front of his traveling rig.

What would be a day without a peak? We drove to this one 😏
Beautiful beaches and impressive paragliders . We even met a paraglider pilot from Poland here
Walking the beach
Wind is blowing strong- I can’t believe what these paragliders did
Now time to explore Lagos, Portugal- we immediately found Marta’s Street
I like the human scale of streets in Lagos
And the details
And the water front
And old city walls
And the beaches in Lagos
This beach is a few minute walk from the Lagos centre
Spring is here
Sagres and Lagos are in the south western Portugal
