2025-01-04 Baja – Cerro la Mina de San Vincente and el Crestón

We camped in the most majestic place with beautiful cacti around us.

And I even didn’t take a good photo of it.
We had our first camp fire
And Chester made sausages on it
In the morning we started directly from our car and headed to the mountain Cerro la Mina de San Vincente.
We were relieved that local cows made trails. Some were good, some petered out quickly, and some were no go. In any case we could move here with reasonable speed
There is some red in this desert country
A sub-peak visible to the right of me
How did this tree climbed that rock?
There were fun boulders on the final summit. Chester rushes to join me on the highest one.
I am already there
So is he
On the way down we found more cow trails.
Chester admires local palms loaded with dates
And blooming cacti

We now drive to a new location. Chester found another named peak. 😀

The road is a bit rough but we know it leads to a rancho so most likely it will go.

It did. Once at the rancho we explain we are peak-seekers and ask the owner for a permission to hike Cerro el Crestón.

Here we also find cow trails – Viva las Vachas!!!
Great granit block marks the top.
Looking back at the first peak of the day.
Once back at the car we are invited by the rancheros for wonderful lunch.
As we continue our journey we also get a chance to share some of our food…
Then we keep driving the road that does not exist on the maps. What a treat this is!!! We stop for night in another spectacular place – tomorrow we will attempt Cerro Blanco.
